RIVER WYE

Wye Ultra 30 Miles

7th March 2010

An out and back 30 mile Ultra Marathon, passing through some of the most beautiful countryside Hereford has to offer – indeed, Ross on Wye is the only town that sits within the AONB and provides the perfect start to the event.

The route will follow the River Wye from Ross down to the riverside village of Lydbrook. From here it will head into the stunning Forest of Dean to the turn around point from which athletes will retrace their steps back to Ross on Wye.

With the majority of the route along the river and through the Forest, it provides a relatively nice introduction to ultra running and at 30 miles is a great step up from marathon running.

Alongside the Ultra Marathon there will also be a 3 stage relay for teams, with each athlete running a 10 mile section of the route.

Alternatively this is an ideal final long run for athletes in training for the MDS and other multi-day events.

The route will be well marked and marshaled and there will be water stations available at the 10 mile check points, where special needs bags can be left by the athlete if they so wish.

This event filled up in 2009 so early entries are encouraged to avoid disappointment.
